Having gained 17 years experience supporting and implementing
enterprise business systems, David formed Empiric Technology
Ltd, in November 2004, to provide technical resources to the
Product Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management
(PLM) sectors. Expertise includes the generation of complex
engineering reports using a publishing framework that integrates
native object manipulation with a generic publishing module
supporting all the major file formats. The framework was
successfully used to develop a suite of reports on a Metaphase
PDM system (Teamcentre) for a major defence customer.
At GEC Marconi Defence (subsequently BAE Systems) was both a
systems analyst and a software engineer with responsibility for
all technical aspects of the Sherpa PDM system.
Achievements included:
- System migration from DEC Vax to SUN Solaris and HP HP-UX
- Database migration from Ingress to Oracle
- Developing business critical custom engineering reports
- Loading data from heterogeneous legacy systems
- Implementing interfaces to automate the transfer of data
between business systems
- Supporting business processes through the development of
custom functionality that was deployed on multi-client
architectures (PC and UNIX)
- The system administration of a business system comprising an
Oracle database and the Sherpa PDM application.
At Data Logic undertook a wide range of technical development
rolls on projects for the financial, commercial and defence
sectors. Responsibilities included software and requirements
specifications, database and software design, and system
implementation. The projects used a broad range of languages and
technologies.
Gained a BSc in Electronic, Computer and Systems Engineering.
