Prudential Project

Prudential Financial companies offer a variety of products and services, including life insurance, property and casualty insurance, mutual funds, annuities, and pension services. These companies have over $500 billion in total assets under management and administration.

The aim of this project was to capture knowledge from experts in the areas of financial services and products.

In conjunction with knowledge engineering resources from the Prudential group, Epistemics provided knowledge engineering and management resources to:

- Assist in the knowledge elicitation from experts

- Perform all knowledge analysis and modelling

- Publish the knowledge as a website (intranet)

Use was made of PCPACK for all analysis and modelling, and for publishing the website.

Scottish Amicable (now owned by Prudential)

Training for Scottish Amicable Life

Scottish Amicable Life is part of the Prudential group of companies. The Prudential group is one of the UK's largest financial service providers with total funds under management of over 150 billion pounds.

Epistemics has developed and run a number of intensive 5-day training courses for knowledge engineers at Scottish Amicable Life. The courses, delivered by Epistemics staff, included modules in the following subject areas:

- Introduction to Knowledge Engineering and Knowledge Management

- Analysing Transcripts

- Knowledge Modelling

- Knowledge Acquisition Techniques

- Project Management of a Knowledge Project

- CommonKADS

- PCPACK

Epistemics provided assistance to knowledge engineers at Scottish Amicable Life after the formal training courses (e.g. the Prudential Project).
